What Is Podiatry?
Podiatry is the medical and surgical treatment of conditions that affect the foot and ankle. This includes all muscles and tendons in the leg that connect to the ankle and/or foot. A podiatrist is a doctor who is specially trained to treat conditions of the foot and ankle. A podiatrist may prescribe medicine, set fractures, take and interpret medical images (e.g. X-rays), order physical therapy and perform surgery. A podiatrist may be board-qualified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery.
Dr. Scott Gordon, from South Central Kansas Bone & Joint Center, provides a full range of treatment for a wide variety of conditions. These include ingrown toenails, pinched nerves, heel pain, fractured toes, corns, diabetic wounds, bunions, hammertoes and sports-related injuries such as ankle sprains.
Dr. Gordon and his experienced staff come once monthly to an outreach clinic. He has special interests in reconstructive, trauma, rearfoot and ankle surgery, diabetic limb salvage and total ankle arthroplasty and arthroscopy.
We have selected Cardiovascular Consultants of Kansas to participate in your cardiology care. Our physicians and staff are focused on your health – providing education and prevention through diagnosis, treatment and cardiac rehabilitation. Our cardiology team has treated thousands of Kansans from every corner of the state. We proudly host Dr. Ashcom two times a month here at Medicine Lodge Physicians Clinic to help keep you closer to home.
Primary care offices are often the first stop for medical treatment. The advantage to seeing your primary care whenever possible is your complete medical history will be in front of the doctor to assist with diagnosis. Over time, your doctor will get to know you and be able recognize signs that indicate a potential change in your health.
We pride ourselves in taking care of you and your families. While we do encourage people to call in and schedule appointments, we are often able to see you on the same day you call in.
You should see your primary care physician for conditions such as:
- High blood pressure management
- Diabetes management
- Medication refills
- Cold and flu symptoms
- School and sports physicals
- DOT physicals
- Annual physicals
- Pregnancy tests
- Unusual changes in physical or mental health
- Sudden weight loss or gain
- Frequent headaches
- Increased fatigue
We have an elite team staffed to take care of the conditions listed and much, much more!
Call today to schedule at 620-886-5949. Our clinic hours are as early as 6:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Thursday and from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on Fridays.
